Fatehgarh Sahib, May 3: The Fatehgarh Sahib police are investigating the death of a young doctor who was found hanging in her official residence at the Civil Hospital complex. The deceased, identified as Dr. Riya, had recently moved from her hometown of Bathinda to take up a posting as a gynaecologist at the government facility roughly a month and a half ago.
Emergency responders reached the government quarters following reports of the incident, where they confirmed the death of the medical professional. Investigators affirmed that despite a detailed search of the premises, no written message or suicide note was found to explain the act.
Colleagues of the deceased informed the police that Dr. Riya had appeared to be struggling with mental health pressures in recent days. SHO Ashok Kumar stated that the department is looking into all possible angles to understand the circumstances leading to the event. He maintained that the body is currently being held for an autopsy to fulfill legal requirements.
The local administration and hospital staff have expressed shock over the loss of the young physician. Police officials declared that further legal proceedings will depend on the post-mortem results and the testimony provided by the doctor’s family members, who are expected to arrive from Bathinda.
