May,11: IPL 2025: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will consult with the national government and other interested parties before determining a resumption date for the IPL 2025. According to BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia, the board will meet to discuss the league’s future after gathering feedback over the course of the next 48 hours. Four playoff games are among the 16 remaining games in the season.
BCCI is keeping a careful eye on the situation
With five days left, we are currently on the second day of the seven-day IPL suspension that the BCCI ordered yesterday. The BCCI is closely monitoring the evolving situation and developments and will take a call on IPL resumption after consulting all stakeholders of the IPL and the concerned government authorities,” BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia told Cricbuzz, only hours after India and Pakistan established a ceasefire.
Consultation with the Government Prior to Resumption
The BCCI wants to confer with the Indian government because the IPL is a national competition. “We will start consultations with the franchises, broadcasters, sponsors, and state associations that will host the remaining matches in the next 48 hours before finalizing a decision on the league’s resumption,” said the BCCI.
The Value of Official Approval
Before choosing a start date, it will also be prudent and necessary to obtain the Indian government’s assent given the importance of the IPL at this time. The BCCI will suitably announce the IPL’s return date after everything is complete.
Punjab Kings vs Delhi Capitals Cancellation Was Suspended
On Friday, May 9, the BCCI halted the league after the Delhi Capitals vs. Punjab Kings match in Dharamsala was canceled. The BCCI does not like to prolong the IPL season past May, according to Cricbuzz. Within a timeframe of 12–14 days, the board hopes to finish the remaining 16 games, even if the schedule includes a few extra doubleheaders.
International Players Await New Information
At the time of publishing, there was no information available on franchise management getting in touch with its overseas players. Similar opinions were voiced by representatives of many teams, who all said they would hold off on recalling their foreign players until further information was available. However, a large number of foreign players are anticipated to return if the league starts up again in a week. Some foreign players may be requested to stay if they haven’t left yet.
Chennai Super Kings’ dedication to the league has not changed
We want the league to be finished even though we are not in the running for a play-off spot. “We want the IPL, a prestigious competition, to work with the BCCI on this issue,” said Kasi Viswanathan, CEO of the Chennai Super Kings. With just two games remaining, we have warned players from abroad that they may need to return in a week. The Super Kings are currently at the bottom of the standings with six points after 12 games.
