Kashmir, Its Water Ours; Pawan Kalyan Rebukes Bilawal Remarks

by TheReportingTimes

Andra Pradesh, April 29 — Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan on Tuesday issued a stern response to Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari’s threats over water-sharing, warning that any provocation would be met with resolute national unity and sacrifice.

“They should be reminded how they lost the past three wars,” Kalyan told reporters when asked about Bhutto’s controversial remarks.

“We must send visuals of their 70,000 soldiers and how they were treated. If they try to cross the line again, every Indian will march to Pakistan. If the need arises, we will spill our blood for the nation,” he said.

His remarks come after Bhutto-Zardari, during a rally in Sukkur, warned that “either our water will flow through the Indus or their blood.”

He was reacting to India’s decision to suspend the Indus Waters Treaty (IWT) following the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, which killed 26 people, most of them tourists.

Bhutto-Zardari also claimed historical and cultural ownership over the Indus River, saying the ancient civilisation of Mohenjo-Daro in Sindh proves Pakistan’s custodianship of the river.

“Modi says India is heir to a civilisation thousands of years old, but that civilisation lies in Larkana. We are its true custodians and will defend it,” he declared.

He further alleged that the Indian government seeks to divert Pakistan’s water resources and called for unity across Pakistan’s provinces to resist what he termed “robbery on the Sindhu.”

India downgraded diplomatic ties with Islamabad on Wednesday, a move that followed the deadly Pahalgam attack on Tuesday.

In a separate but related warning, Pawan Kalyan condemned Congress leaders for allegedly siding with Pakistan after the attack. Addressing a memorial gathering for the victims, he said, “Supporting Pakistan while living in India is unacceptable. Those who do so should leave the country.”

He added, “Kashmir is ours. Talking about terrorism for political gain is shameful.” Without naming any particular leader, he urged political parties to reject communal violence and support national unity. “The nation will not tolerate anyone endorsing anti-India sentiments or terrorism,” he said.

Kalyan concluded that the Pahalgam attack has left the country wounded, and any attempt to politicise the tragedy disrespects the victims.
