CHANDIGARH, SEPT 30: A major organizational shift is under way within the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee as the central leadership completes consultations to appoint a new state unit president.
Party representatives stated that the central leadership has conducted discreet feedback assessments among Punjab leaders to identify a chief capable of uniting diverse party factions ahead of the 2027 state elections. The selection process comes amid heightened efforts by senior leaders, including Raja Warring, Pargat Singh, and Sukhbinder Sarkaria, to present a unified front during recent state-level protests and public demonstrations.
Former Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi and his supporters are playing a significant role in party discussions, with several senior leaders meeting in Delhi to align state preferences with central decision-makers.
Party office-bearers affirmed that the new state chief will be tasked with immediately consolidating organizational strength across the Majha, Malwa, and Doaba regions to prepare the ground for the upcoming electoral cycle.
