New Delhi — Clearances were finalized in Parliament on Friday as the Lok Sabha passed the MSME Development (Amendment) Bill, 2026, establishing a streamlined regulatory structure for small enterprises.
The legislation targets chronic liquidity delays by mandating invoice settlements via digital financing networks and establishing firm deadlines for dispute resolution. In addition to enforcing a 90-day window for mediation, the law ensures small business owners receive interim financial relief during prolonged court litigation. It further decriminalizes procedural filing lapses, shifting enforcement to administrative warnings and graded penalties.
House proceedings faced continuous interruptions from Opposition members raising slogans, prompting intervention from the Chair.
“Home Minister Amit Shah has been regularly attending the House during the ongoing session and remains available for discussions,” Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju asserted while addressing opposition concerns regarding ministerial presence.
The Lower House was subsequently adjourned for the day, following earlier tributes led by Speaker Om Birla to mark the upcoming anniversary of the Quit India Movement.
