Chandigarh, Sept 23: An imminent western disturbance is expected to bring widespread precipitation across Punjab and Haryana, offering temporary relief following a deficient monsoon season. Official data released by the weather department indicates that seasonal rainfall remained below normal by 37 per cent in Punjab and 26 per cent in Haryana as the monsoon line retreated through key regional transit points.
Satellite observations shared by the weather office showed clear atmospheric conditions over the two states ahead of the incoming system. Officials maintained that eastern and northwestern belts will see scattered showers, while southwestern areas of Haryana like Hisar, Sirsa, and Fatehabad will remain outside the active precipitation zone.
IMD officials declared that the brief wet spell will span September 25 to September 29, with peak activity anticipated on September 26 and 27. The development comes as the monsoon’s boundary contracts to the easternmost borders of Punjab and the northern tip of Haryana.
