CHANDIGARH, May 28 — The Bharatiya Janata Party has introduced a fresh agrarian policy platform for Punjab, with its newly selected state chief promising full price protections across all centrally registered crop varieties.
Kewal Singh Dhillon, who assumed the state presidency on Thursday, stated that the party’s core strategy will focus on matching or exceeding the agricultural benefits provided in neighboring regions. He noted that regional voters are prepared to make a decisive course correction during the next legislative cycle due to ongoing governance issues under the current administration.
The incoming president stated that the party is currently working independently to establish a presence across all assembly constituencies. While leaving decisions about potential coalitions to the national high command, Dhillon maintained that cooperation would only be extended to entities that prioritize regional welfare and stability.
“I can only say that people of Punjab are tired but not defeated,” Dhillon stated. “They will make the correct decision in 2027.”
Dhillon expressed a desire to steer the state’s administrative atmosphere back toward historical periods of prosperity, referencing the structural stability associated with traditional rule. He noted that his primary task will be engaging senior cadres to build organizational momentum ahead of upcoming local and state-level polls.
The leader addressed past agricultural disputes, stating that the central government’s decision to withdraw the controversial farm laws demonstrated a respect for public consensus. He related that the Prime Minister prioritized the concerns of the farming community when the communication gap could not be resolved.
The briefing concluded with a review of ongoing structural concerns, with Dhillon asserting that unchecked criminal activity and administrative lapses have heavily impacted daily life. He stated that the party intends to run a comprehensive campaign highlighting economic development and agricultural security to secure a legislative majority.
