Bathinda, June 24: National assessment metrics indicate that Punjab has made substantial progress in its foundational sectors, outperforming several major states in school education quality. The administration attributes this advancement to systematic upgrades and prudent fiscal management, which they say has allowed public revenue to be directed back into essential citizen services.

Addressing a gathering in Bathinda, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann stated that federal data reflects a significant turnaround for the state’s schools. “NITI Aayog has released figures showing that Punjab has surpassed Kerala, Maharashtra and Delhi to secure the number one position in primary and middle-school education,” Mann declared. He asserted that when he assumed charge of office, Punjab was ranked 27th in school education, whereas today it leads the country in foundational learning, digital infrastructure, and school facilities.

The administration connected these structural improvements to its ongoing employment strategy, which recently saw 665 youth join the state’s power corporation. The Chief Minister maintained that recruitment practices are now strictly monitored to ensure fairness. “By completely eliminating the corrupt practices of bribery and recommendations followed by previous governments, your government has so far provided 68,288 government jobs to youngsters purely on the basis of merit,” he asserted, adding that this transparency is actively driving reverse migration among the youth.

The state’s developmental updates also featured significant progress in agricultural infrastructure and healthcare access. Mann declared that canal water usage for irrigation has risen from 22% to more than 80%, with 14,000 kilometres of watercourses laid to assist local farmers. He affirmed that the government is working entirely for the people, pointing to the upcoming launch of the Maavan Dheeyan Satkar Yojna on July 1 to provide monthly financial assistance to women, alongside the ongoing Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna health card distribution.
