CHANDIGARH, MAY 5— To streamline district-level operations, the Punjab government has announced the transfer of several top-tier civil and police officers. The latest orders have resulted in the posting of new Deputy Commissioners for Sangrur and Faridkot, alongside a rotation of Senior Superintendents of Police in four crucial districts.
The state government stated that Rahul Chaba is now the Deputy Commissioner for Faridkot, replacing the previous incumbent, while Poonamdeep Kaur has been shifted to lead the Sangrur district administration. Officials noted that these shifts are intended to bring a fresh perspective to district governance and fulfill the government’s commitment to transparent administration.
The police force saw similar changes, with the state government appointing Sirtaj Singh Chahal as the new SSP of Moga and Ravjot Grewal as the new SSP of Sangrur. Additionally, the districts of Fazilka and Malerkotla will now be headed by Gagan Ajit Singh and Gurmeet Singh, respectively.
Government representatives declared that the reassignments are aimed at strengthening the internal security apparatus and ensuring that police chiefs are positioned to address regional challenges effectively. The administration affirmed that all transferred officers have been instructed to assume their new responsibilities immediately to prevent any lapse in governance. These changes come as part of a series of moves by the state to refresh its bureaucratic and law enforcement leadership.
