CHANDIGARH — Highlighting the need for multi-state administrative coordination, AAP leader and Cabinet Minister Harpal Singh Cheema urged the Central Government to address systemic gaps in prison security and inter-state law enforcement. Addressing reporters in Chandigarh, Cheema stated that ensuring public safety and protecting businesses from extortion networks must be a primary focus for law enforcement agencies across the country.
Cheema questioned how incarcerated figures managed to orchestrate threatening communication and maintain influence over criminal operations from within central facilities. He noted that recent high-profile incidents—such as the shooting incident targeting actor Tiger Shroff’s vehicle in Mumbai—highlight the persistent threat posed by syndicated crime groups operating across state jurisdictions.
Underlining Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s administrative commitments, Cheema affirmed that the Punjab Government remains firm in its campaign against drugs and organized crime under the ‘Yudh Nashean Virudh’ framework. He called for effective inter-agency cooperation, transparent accountability, and coordinated action across state boundaries to ensure long-term public safety.
