CHANDIGARH, OCT 20 — Highlighting the need for constructive Centre-state alignment, AAP Punjab Media In-charge Baltej Pannu stated that tackling the drug challenge across border areas demands practical solutions and administrative coordination. Speaking on the occasion of Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s visit to the state, Pannu outlined the steps taken under Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s leadership, including the implementation of the ‘Yudh Nashean Virudh’ initiative and the installation of anti-drone technology along sensitive border stretches.
Pannu asserted that past administrations, including previous Congress and Akali-BJP governments, must account for their handling of drug supply networks during their respective terms. He declared that addressing the influx of illicit substances and regulating pharmaceutical compounds fall within joint regulatory spheres, calling on central authorities to act on Punjab’s official proposals regarding pharmaceutical drug restrictions under the NDPS Act.
Reiterating the state’s approach to transparent governance, Pannu noted that the decision to transfer the Parvinder Singh Jhota investigation to the CBI was taken directly upon the request of the bereaved family. He maintained that political discourse should focus on strengthening security measures, providing support to affected families, and securing the future of the state’s youth through systemic action.
