ZIRAKPUR, May 27: In a harrowing late-night robbery, four armed assailants abducted a man and forced him to transfer ₹34,000 digitally before robbing him of his phone, gold chain, motorcycle, and cash in Zirakpur during the intervening night of Sunday and Monday.

The victim, Manish Kumar, an employee at a private firm, told police that the incident occurred around midnight as he was returning home from work. While he was riding his motorcycle near the road leading to High Ground Nabha, a black Honda car intercepted him. Four men dragged him into their vehicle at knifepoint and began assaulting him.

“They held a knife to my neck and demanded I transfer ₹34,000 through UPI. When I refused to arrange more money, they beat me up again,” Manish stated in his police complaint.

The attackers also demanded an additional ₹50,000, which Manish couldn’t provide. A passer-by who tried to intervene was threatened and forced to leave by the assailants. After driving around for over an hour, the robbers eventually dumped Manish on the roadside and escaped with his Apple iPhone 13, a gold chain weighing over 10 grams, ₹4,000 in cash, and his Bajaj Pulsar motorcycle.

Manish later reached the police station with the help of another passer-by and filed a formal complaint. Zirakpur police have registered a case under Sections 115(2), 304/3, and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

A police officer said, “We have initiated an investigation and efforts are underway to trace the accused based on the details provided by the victim.”

Authorities are reviewing CCTV footage and digital transaction trails in a bid to identify and arrest the suspects.
