Man shot seven times in Rupnagar, condition critical

Rupnagar, August 29 – A 32-year-old man was critically injured after being shot seven times by unidentified assailants in Sri Anandpur Sahib late Wednesday night.

The victim, Neeraj, a resident of Midwan Lower village, was attacked near Punjab National Bank Chowk by assailants who arrived in a car. He was rushed to the Civil Hospital in Sri Anandpur Sahib and later referred to PGI Chandigarh in view of his critical condition.

Police reached the spot soon after the incident and launched an investigation. However, no arrests have been made so far and the attackers remain untraced.

Officials said blockades and routine checks were being carried out in the district, yet the attackers managed to fire multiple rounds in the heart of the town before escaping. The incident has triggered panic among residents, who described an atmosphere of fear following the late-night shooting.
