Mann Announces ₹1,000 Monthly Aid for Women in Punjab

by TheReportingTimes

Chandigarh, November 5, 2025 — Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Tuesday announced a new scheme under which every woman in the state will receive ₹1,000 monthly, transferred directly into her bank account. The scheme is expected to roll out once it is approved in the upcoming budget session.

Addressing a crowd in Tarn Taran during a rally for AAP candidate Harmeet Singh Sandhu, Mann said the initiative will bypass paperwork and middlemen. “The promise of ₹1,000 made to our mothers and sisters will also be fulfilled after it is passed in the upcoming budget,” he said.

Mann described the financial support as a way to promote self-reliance among women and ease household burdens. He added that financial aid for women strengthens family units in ways similar to employment opportunities for other members.

Referring to himself as the ‘Minister of Sorrows,’ Mann cited other government measures that address citizens’ day-to-day challenges, including electricity bill waivers for 300 units, youth job creation, school system improvements, and the establishment of Aam Aadmi Clinics.

The rally also served as an election appeal, with Mann encouraging Tarn Taran residents to vote for AAP’s ‘Broom’ symbol on November 11. He noted that while opposition parties focus on political maneuvering, his government remains committed to fulfilling promises made to the public and fostering development.
