MOGA, Jan 28— Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann joined villagers in Dhudike on Wednesday to celebrate the legacy of Lala Lajpat Rai, marking the occasion with the inauguration of a kabaddi competition and the announcement of major development projects. The Chief Minister noted that the state would immediately fulfill all demands raised by the village Panchayat, including the installation of new sewerage lines and the rejuvenation of local ponds.
The visit focused on the revival of Punjab’s sporting heritage, with the Chief Minister urging the public to attend the upcoming Mini Olympics at Kila Raipur starting January 31. He mentioned that the return of bullock cart racing after a 16-year gap would be a central feature of the festivities.
“The state government will leave no stone unturned to restore Punjab’s pristine glory in the sports arena,” Mann directly said, adding that traditional games are essential to the unity and strength of the Punjabi people.
The Chief Minister spent significant time interacting with the youth and seeking blessings from elders, often breaking protocol to shake hands with players. He noted that such tournaments are vital for inspiring the younger generation through the legacy of the freedom struggle.
“The legacy of the great nationalist, who played a pivotal role in the Indian freedom struggle, continues to inspire the youth,” the Chief Minister noted during the sports festival.
On the policy front, Mann briefed the media on the expansion of health services, stating that the ‘Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna’ now provides ₹10 lakh in cashless treatment. He noted that this increase from the previous ₹5 lakh limit is designed to ensure the welfare of every section of society.
The Chief Minister was accompanied by Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema and several local MLAs, who joined him in paying tribute to the revolutionary spirit of Dhudike.
