New Delhi, April 8: Member of Parliament Malvinder Singh Kang has moved a proposal in the Lok Sabha calling for the urgent four-laning of the Banga to Sri Anandpur Sahib road. Addressing the house during its latest session, the MP noted that the upgrade is a necessity for the lakhs of devotees who traverse this route annually to reach the holy city.

The MP emphasized that the project would serve as a vital link between the Majha and Doaba territories. He stated that the expansion of the highway is particularly crucial for the comfort of senior citizens and families who currently face transit difficulties. According to Kang, the existing road capacity is insufficient for the heavy influx of visitors heading toward the Sri Anandpur Sahib shrine.

“It would be an ease for the elderly and the vast number of pilgrims who make this journey,” Kang declared. He affirmed his request to the Government of India to initiate the construction process without further delay to prevent traffic congestion and improve road safety.

The representative asserted that a four-lane highway would drastically reduce travel time and enhance the overall experience for religious tourists. He maintained that the government’s intervention is required to transform this stretch into a modern thoroughfare that reflects the cultural and religious importance of the destination.
