KAPURTHALA, Feb 21 — The Kapurthala Police successfully intercepted two men allegedly carrying illegal substances during routine checks on Saturday. The operations resulted in the seizure of heroin and a quantity of intoxicant tablets in two distinct locations.
The first apprehension occurred near Subhanpur when a man identified as Praveen Singh tried to flee after spotting a police checkpoint. Officials maintained that the suspect threw a small package to the ground in an attempt to hide evidence.
“The accused became nervous on spotting the police party and threw a packet,” a police spokesperson affirmed. Upon inspecting the packet, officers found 6 grams of heroin, leading to the suspect’s immediate arrest.
In a separate incident, Phagwara resident Sarabjit was stopped by a police party headed by ASI Darshan Singh. During the subsequent search, the team recovered 30 intoxicant tablets from his possession.
Authorities asserted that both individuals are currently being questioned to identify their links within the narcotics supply chain. Cases have been registered under the relevant sections of the NDPS Act as the police continue their investigation into the source of the prohibited items.
