New digital mandate for Punjab pensioners

Manual life certificates phased out as March 31 deadline approaches

by TheReportingTimes

Chandigarh, March 16: Pensioners across Punjab are transitioning to a digital-only verification system following recent directives aimed at streamlining the pension process. District Treasury Officer Sukhbir Kaur stated that the Jeevan Pramaan portal is now the primary platform for submitting life certificates. She affirmed that the move is a step toward modernizing state services and ensuring that every retired employee receives their dues through a transparent, biometric-verified method.

The administration has observed that a significant number of retirees still rely on manual paperwork at banks, but Sukhbir Kaur declared that these traditional methods are being replaced by the digital framework. To facilitate a smooth transition, the government has authorized various locations for digital submission, ranging from the nearest treasury offices to local service centers. This wide availability is meant to ensure that no pensioner is left without assistance during the changeover.

For those unable to travel, the state has highlighted the availability of a dedicated helpline. By calling 1076, pensioners can request a doorstep visit from officials who will manage the biometric process on-site, the Treasury Officer maintained. Additionally, tech-savvy users can complete the entire procedure via a mobile app, which uses facial or fingerprint recognition to confirm their status.

Officials asserted that this biometric authentication provides a secure way to confirm life status and helps the government maintain an accurate disbursement record. All retirees are requested to complete their submissions by March 31 to maintain their monthly payment schedule. The government asserted that early completion of the process will help avoid the rush and ensure that the transition to the digital portal remains seamless for everyone involved.
