New Ink for Kohli as IPL 2026 Milestones Loom

Lotus and peony motifs lead fresh tattoo design as star batter eyes 9,000-run IPL record

Chandigarh, March 27: Virat Kohli has updated his iconic look with a new full-sleeve tattoo that serves as a visual map of his career and personal journey. Ahead of the IPL 2026 opener, the former Royal Challengers Bangalore captain worked with Aliens Tattoo to overhaul the ink on his left arm. The studio declared that the new artwork incorporates symbols of growth, specifically the lotus, to unify various designs he has collected over the years.

The creative team stated that the process involved restoring aged tattoos and refining an incomplete Shiva-inspired armband. According to the studio, the intention was to ensure every element on the arm held a specific purpose and contributed to a single, flowing piece. They maintained that while the broader themes of resilience are clear, the specific personal meanings behind certain motifs remain private to the cricketer.

As Kohli reveals his new aesthetic, he is also set to rewrite the T20 record books. He requires fewer than 400 runs to become the first player to reach 9,000 runs in the IPL. Furthermore, he is approaching the 10,000-run mark for RCB across all competitions, a feat never before achieved by a player for a single T20 team.

The veteran right-hander currently boasts 13,543 runs in the T20 format, including nine centuries. Sports analysts affirmed that a successful 2026 campaign would likely see him join the exclusive group of players with over 14,000 T20 runs. Coming off a season where he finished as the third-highest run-getter overall, Kohli’s form remains a primary focus for fans and competitors alike as the tournament begins.
