New Delhi, Oct 8:Top leaders of the INDIA alliance boarded buses toward Rajghat on Thursday afternoon to stage a peaceful demonstration, marking the third day of their central protest demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
The mobilization gathered momentum following a joint meeting in Connaught Place attended by Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, and senior MPs from multiple regional parties. Addressing reporters, Rahul Gandhi accused the government of hijacking democratic processes and unlawfully restricting peaceful assembly after police blocked earlier marches toward Jantar Mantar and the Election Commission headquarters.
In a key political development, President Droupadi Murmu has agreed to meet a 10-member opposition delegation on Friday to discuss their concerns regarding the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls. As security personnel barricaded key intersections across the national capital to manage the march, allied political groups staged parallel demonstrations in major cities including Patna, Hyderabad, and Nagpur.
