CBI searches in Punjab yield no results, says CM Bhagwant Mann

Mann claims agency teams returned empty-handed, accusing central government of targeting opposition leaders

Sangrur, Oct 8:  Reclaiming political ground following state-wide CBI searches, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann declared on Wednesday that the 12-hour operation concluded without any recovery, calling it a complete failure aimed purely at political defamation.

Addressing reporters on the sidelines of an official event in Sangrur, Mann emphasized that the investigating agency explicitly recorded that nothing was found during the searches. Taking to X (formerly Twitter), the Chief Minister termed the actions a sign of political frustration, reiterating that his government entered public service to serve the state rather than accumulate personal wealth. He drawn parallels between the recent searches and central agency actions taken against opposition figures in Delhi and other states prior to major elections.

Beyond criticizing the raids, Mann highlighted his administration’s anti-drug initiatives and agricultural reforms, noting that expanded canal irrigation has significantly boosted crop yields and protected groundwater reserves. Commenting on the political landscape, the Chief Minister claimed the opposition remains ineffective—pointing to internal friction within the Congress and the marginalization of the Shiromani Akali Dal—and expressed confidence that AAP faces no real competition for the 2027 state elections.
