Gurugram, Feb 16: The Palwal district administration has deployed emergency health teams to Chhanyasa village following the deaths of seven individuals, including four children, over a 15-day period. Health Department officials noted that while jaundice or hepatitis is the suspected cause, a definitive diagnosis is pending further laboratory confirmation.

The Deputy Commissioner, Dr. Harish Kumar Vashishta, visited the village to assess the impact of the suspected infection and coordinate the medical response. He stated that the administration is compiling comprehensive data from various regional hospitals where the victims received treatment to determine if a common source of infection exists.

“There is no need for panic, but caution remains our most effective tool,” the Deputy Commissioner affirmed during his inspection.

Villagers expressed deep anxiety, noting that many homes are currently managing ill family members who suffer from symptoms that appeared suddenly. A member of the local panchayat maintained that the community is particularly concerned about the safety of the local water supply and the speed at which the illness has progressed.

In response, the government has initiated door-to-door awareness campaigns and established specialized camps for blood testing and medicine distribution. Officials asserted that the focus remains on identifying the cause while simultaneously improving sanitation and ensuring the delivery of clean drinking water to the residents.
