Abohar, Dec. 27, 2025: A Border Security Force recruitment rally in Sriganganagar was briefly disrupted on Thursday after a sudden bee attack left more than two dozen candidates injured, officials said.
The attack took place at the BSF Sector Headquarters ground when the first batch of candidates was participating in a running test. A swarm of bees reportedly flew out from trees near the field and began stinging candidates, causing panic and confusion.
Candidates waiting for document verification were also affected as people rushed for cover. “Everyone started running in different directions,” said a candidate present at the rally. “There was complete chaos for a few minutes.”
Officials said around two dozen candidates were taken to the district civil hospital for treatment. Three of them were admitted for observation, while the remaining candidates were discharged after receiving medical care.
A medical team was sent to the recruitment ground to treat candidates with minor injuries on site.
“All injured candidates are stable and out of danger,” officials said.
Sources said the open ground is surrounded by trees that may contain beehives, which were likely disturbed during the recruitment activity.
BSF personnel and staff acted swiftly to shift the injured to hospital vehicles, and senior officers later visited the hospital to monitor their condition. The recruitment process resumed after the situation was brought under control.
