Mohali, December 27: In a decisive action against illegal mining, Punjab Police conducted coordinated raids across multiple locations in Mohali, resulting in the arrest of 15 individuals and the seizure of several vehicles and machines used for unlawful extraction.
According to Mohali SSP Harmandeep Singh Hans, the crackdown was carried out during the night between December 26 and 27 under the limits of Sohana, Majri and Dera Bassi police stations.
As part of the operation, police registered 20 FIRs and seized one earth-moving machine, 14 tippers loaded with mining material and two tractor-trolleys.
Hans said the recovered material has been examined by the Geology and Mining Department, which will initiate further proceedings as per law. He also confirmed that notices have been served to crusher owners and others believed to be linked to the illegal mining network.
The SSP said Punjab Police maintains a strict zero-tolerance policy against illegal mining and warned that such enforcement actions will continue to prevent environmental degradation and illegal exploitation of resources.
