LUDHIANA, May 18, 2026 – An intelligence-led raid in Ludhiana has led to the dismantling of an international criminal ring, with local authorities confirming the detention of two suspects linked to overseas coordinators.

The coordinated effort between Counter Intelligence and the Crime Investigation Agency staff led to the arrest of Jalandhar residents Anuraj and Ankush. Investigators noted that the suspects were functioning as localized executioners for a network based out of Germany and the United Arab Emirates, designed to carry out sensational violent crimes across Punjab.

“The arrested operatives made disclosures regarding their operational hierarchy confessing to being active members of an organised, transnational criminal syndicate operated directly by foreign-based handlers,” Ludhiana Commissioner of Police Swapan Sharma declared.

The commissioner stated that the network specialized in smuggling high-grade weapon systems across borders to equip field cells for designated hits.

Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav maintained that the law enforcement intervention effectively halted a major security breach, noting, “Their timely arrest has successfully averted potentially serious criminal activities.”

Yadav asserted that special squads are investigating the group’s logistical linkages to identify individuals who helped manage local safe houses, provided finances, or transported the illegal weapons.

The physical evidence gathered from the scene included two .30 bore weapons, a .315 bore handgun, and a collection of live ammunition. The suspects were traveling on a motorcycle without license plates when intercepted by the police checkpoint established near the regional highway network.

Local court records reveal that the state has invoked strict provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita alongside standard firearms charges against the duo. Police officials stated that additional raids are expected across various districts based on the electronic footprints and physical data recovered during the initial arrests.
