Mansa, Feb 11: Balkaur Singh and Charan Kaur, the parents of Sidhu Moosewala, sat on the floor of the SSP office complex in protest today, alleging that police are shielding individuals involved in a major financial fraud. The couple is demanding a criminal case against a former manager and two associates for allegedly misappropriating earnings from the late singer’s business entities.
The conflict centers on the distribution of digital royalties collected since May 2022. While sources indicate that USD 7 million has been paid to the parents in installments, they allege that over USD 37 lakh remains missing from the total collection of USD 1.15 crore. The parents reached the office while senior officials were conducting a review under Operation Prahar 2.0.
“The file is now lying with the SSP, but the case has not been registered,” Balkaur Singh said during the protest. He noted that if the police intended to protect one individual, they should still proceed with charges against the other two named in the complaint. He mentioned that the family is determined to see the FIR registered and will not be deterred by delays.
The family expressed deep frustration with the Mansa police, claiming that their grievances are being ignored because they cannot offer financial incentives. “Our earning member has already been killed,” Singh said. He mentioned that they had come to meet the DIG to ensure the higher authorities were aware of the grief and the obstacles they are facing in their pursuit of justice.
The protest concluded after a meeting with top officials, though the parents initially returned to their spot on the floor after the discussion. They remained silent about the specifics of the police assurances, but maintained their stance that the investigation into their son’s firms must result in immediate legal action.
