by TheReportingTimes

Chandigarh, 24 December 2024: Farmers who have been protesting at the Khanauri and Shambhu borders for the past 10 months are organizing a Punjab Bandh on December 30. They are demanding several measures, including a legal guarantee for minimum support price (MSP).

To ensure the bandh’s success, the United Kisan Morcha and Kisan Mazdoor Morcha have scheduled a meeting with transporters, farmers, traders, and union representatives at the Khanauri border on December 26.

During the bandh, public transport services, including buses and other vehicles, will be halted in Punjab from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., and businesses and markets will be closed.

However, farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher has stated that essential services, including emergency medical help, will not be disrupted.

Pandher has called on several groups, including the Truck Union, Student Union, PRTC, Private Union, Mazdoor Union, Palledar Union, and Ex-Servicemen Union, to join the Punjab Bandh in support.

In other developments, farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal continues his fast, now in its 29th day. On December 27, there will be a campaign to raise awareness about the Punjab Bandh at various locations across the state.

Essential services, such as emergency healthcare and wedding-related services, will be exempt from the bandh’s impact.
