Chandigarh, Feb 10: Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has urged the people of Punjab to remain vigilant against malicious propaganda targeting the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna, reinforcing that the healthcare programme is entirely free of cost.
The Chief Minister noted that the landmark scheme has received an overwhelming public response, providing much-needed relief to families who previously faced massive out-of-pocket expenses. He mentioned that despite the scheme’s global accolades, certain forces inimical to the state’s progress are attempting to paint a different picture by spreading baseless rumours.
“Treatment under the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna will be completely free of cost, and no fees will be charged from patients by the hospitals,” Mann said. He noted that a foolproof mechanism has been established to ensure that no beneficiary is asked for even a “single penny” during their hospital stay.
Mann mentioned that the state government is committed to maintaining transparency and accountability within the empanelled network of private and public hospitals. He noted that the fixed rates for nearly 2,600 treatments ensure that hospitals are duty-bound to provide services at government-stipulated costs. The Chief Minister mentioned that any attempt to charge patients would be met with strict consequences.
“People of Punjab must remain alert to such forces that are hell-bent on harming public interest by spreading baseless rumours,” the Chief Minister noted. He mentioned that health cards can be easily generated using an Aadhaar or voter card, and he urged every family to take maximum advantage of the universal coverage. Mann noted that the government remains focused on its goal of providing top-tier medical facilities to every resident, regardless of their financial status.
