Punjab Declares April 14 Public Holiday for Ambedkar Jayanti

Chandigarh, April 5: The Punjab Government has declared a public holiday across the state on April 14 (Monday) to commemorate the birth anniversary of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, the principal architect of the Indian Constitution.

The notification, issued on April 1, 2025, falls under Section 25 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881.

All government offices, boards, corporations, and institutions will remain closed on the day. The Personnel Department has circulated the order to all administrative departments, including the Punjab Civil Secretariat in Chandigarh and Punjab Bhawan, the offices of the Chief Secretary, Chief Electoral Officer, State Information Commission, and Deputy Commissioners across districts.

Dr. Ambedkar, a social reformer and jurist, was born on April 14, 1891. His contributions to social justice and the Indian Constitution continue to be honoured nationwide.
