Gurdaspur, November 2 — In a major breakthrough against the gangster-terror nexus, Punjab Police on Saturday arrested two men allegedly working under the directions of foreign-based Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) operatives.
The accused — Lovedeep Singh alias Love and Tek Chand alias Tinku — were in contact with overseas gangsters Gurdev Jassal and Gurlal alias Gullu, both linked to BKI, police said.
Preliminary interrogation revealed that the two were assigned to execute targeted killings of rival gang members to destabilise the state. “Their arrest has helped prevent a serious attempt to spread fear and violence,” officials said.
Police seized three .32-bore pistols along with live cartridges from the duo. Efforts are underway to trace their local and international connections.
“The Punjab Police is determined to eliminate the gangster-terror ecosystem operating from abroad and ensure lasting peace in the state,” the department said in a statement.
