Chandigarh/SAS Nagar, November 12, 2025 — Two men connected to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang were arrested in SAS Nagar on Wednesday following a brief shootout with police, officials said.

According to DGP Gaurav Yadav, the arrested operatives were acting on instructions from Goldy Dhillon, a foreign-based gangster, to target a businessman in Punjab. “The operation foiled a gangster plot and prevented further criminal activity,” he said.

The arrested men, Sharanjit Singh of Tangori, Mohali, and Aman Kumar of Khijargarh, Zirakpur, were found in possession of two .32 bore pistols and 10 live cartridges. Their Bajaj Discover motorcycle was also seized.

SSP Harmandeep Hans said that the AGTF and SAS Nagar police acted on credible intelligence about the movement of the gang members. “During the interception, the accused fired at police in an attempt to escape, and both sustained injuries in retaliatory fire,” Hans said.

ADGP Promod Ban said that Goldy Dhillon has been linked to multiple criminal cases, including the killing of an Indian-origin industrialist in British Columbia last October. DIG AGTF Gurmeet Singh Chauhan added that the accused have criminal histories, with Aman Kumar facing FIRs related to arms offences.

An FIR has been registered at Dera Bassi Police Station under sections 109, 132, 221, 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and section 25 of the Arms Act.
