Chandigarh, April 5: Punjab Information Technology Minister Aman Arora has directed officials to complete the creation of online login IDs for all Sarpanches, Numbardars, and Municipal Councilors by the end of April 2025 to improve citizen services and ensure transparency.
Presiding over a meeting of the Board of Governors of the Punjab State e-Governance Society (PSEGS), Arora said, “A total of 43,321 online IDs have been planned so that local representatives can verify applications and certificates digitally. This will save citizens from making repeated visits.”
Additional Chief Secretary Vikas Pratap informed the minister that more than 41,000 IDs—nearly 95 percent—have already been created. He assured that the remaining work would be completed within the month.
Highlighting efforts to make services more accessible, Arora added, “We have reduced the door-to-door service fee from Rs 120 to Rs 50. Citizens can now access 406 services by calling the helpline number 1076 from their homes.”
He also said that the e-Governance Society is driving key IT initiatives across the state. The board reviewed progress on major projects including e-Services, the Public Grievance Redressal System, RTI Portal, M-Services, the State Admission Portal, Connect Portal, and the Visitor Pass Management System.
