Rain Forecast To End Punjab Heat Spell

Relief Expected Following Record Temperature Surge

by TheReportingTimes

Chandigarh, April 25: Mercury levels across Punjab and Chandigarh have surged to record heights for the month, though weather officials declared that a period of cooling rain is expected to arrive by early next week. The region is currently struggling with a heat wave that saw Amritsar reach 40.3°C and Ludhiana hit 42.4°C.

The Meteorological Department affirmed that the lack of rainfall has intensified the current conditions. However, a transition is anticipated between April 26 and April 30. During this window, several districts, including Muktsar and Mansa, are likely to experience winds of 30–40 kmph accompanied by showers.

“Thunderstorms and rain will likely bring partial relief from the ongoing heat wave by April 28,” the forecast maintained. Until then, warm night conditions in cities like Tarn Taran and Ludhiana are expected to continue, offering residents little comfort after sunset.

In the interim, the administration has urged the public to take precautions against the rising heat. Officials stated that while some areas like Hoshiarpur have recorded slightly lower temperatures, the majority of the state remains under a heat warning.

Current observations show that night temperatures remain significantly above normal. Meteorologists declared that the arrival of a western disturbance is the primary factor that will eventually break this cycle of intense heat and dry winds.
