Chandigarh, June 7: The Chandigarh Congress launched a sharp critique against the central administration on Sunday, demanding an immediate rollback of the 29-rupee hike on domestic cooking gas cylinders. The opposition party stated that the rising cost of essential fuels represents an insensitive approach toward the economic survival of low-income families and small-scale traders navigating an ongoing financial crunch.
The standard price adjustments have triggered significant pushback across regional political groups. Party organizers stated that structural inflation has increasingly become an entrenched issue under current governance frameworks, with retail buyers facing the brunt of global market pass-throughs. The local unit argued that matching domestic retail rates with volatile international indexes without providing adequate cushions has effectively weakened the purchasing power of ordinary citizens.
The party intends to leverage this latest pricing update to mobilize mass contact programs and public outreach campaigns. Activists noted that the operational costs for small businesses and households are climbing uniformly due to parallel rate increases in compressed natural gas and standard transport fuels over the past month.
The Chandigarh party chief asserted that the ongoing price shifts have severely impacted the standard of living for housewives and wage earners. He maintained that the organization remains committed to challenging these economic policies through organized political interventions.
“The BJP government, which made big promises during the elections to control inflation in a hundred days and provide relief to the people, is today bent on destroying the budget of every household,” Harmohinder Singh Lucky stated during the party briefing.
The opposition leader declared that the party would not remain silent on consumer welfare issues, vowing to keep pressure on policy-makers.
“The Congress party will continue its struggle from the street to the House to protect the interests of the common people and will continue to raise the voice of the people,” Harmohinder Singh Lucky affirmed.
