GURUGRAM, JUNE 7: A dual homicide investigation is underway in Gurugram after a local school principal and her son were shot dead inside their Ashok Vihar home on Saturday night. Authorities have taken the victims’ husband and father into custody, identifying him as a corporate security professional who previously taught physical education.

The emergency response began when neighbors rushed to the property after hearing successive gunshots inside the house. Upon entering, residents discovered Asha, 45, and Prashant, 25, unresponsive, prompting an immediate notification to the police department. Responding officers found the suspect sitting quietly near the victims.

According to municipal detectives, the shooting occurred after a verbal argument between the spouses grew violent. The son entered the room in an effort to intervene and shield his mother, but the suspect allegedly drew his licensed handgun and opened fire on both individuals, inflicting fatal injuries.

Forensic teams spent early Sunday collecting ballistic evidence and mapping the home to reconstruct the crime scene. The bodies have been moved to a state facility for formal post-mortem procedures before being released to extended relatives for final rites.

The Sector-5 police leadership stated that the weapon used in the offense has been safely recovered and added to the official case property. They maintained that a detailed timeline of the family’s prior disputes is currently being compiled through witness interviews.

“The argument intensified, and Anil allegedly began shouting at his son as well,” an investigator noted during the initial site assessment. “In a fit of rage, Anil pulled out his licensed pistol and opened fire.”

Law enforcement representatives affirmed that formal charges will be processed as additional medical and ballistic reports are delivered to the monitoring magistrate.
