SHIMLA, May 28 — The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast a spell of light to moderate rainfall across Himachal Pradesh, accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds ranging from 40 to 60 km/h, until June 2.
On May 28, isolated hailstorms are likely in parts of the mid hills, while thunderstorms with lightning and winds reaching 50–60 km/h are expected in Chamba, Kangra, Kullu, Mandi, Shimla, Solan, and Sirmaur districts, according to IMD officials in Shimla.
From May 29 to June 2, similar weather is forecast in Una, Bilaspur, and Hamirpur. In Chamba, Kinnaur, and Lahaul-Spiti, gusty winds of 40–50 km/h are also likely during this period.
Light to moderate rainfall is predicted on May 28 at isolated locations in Una, Bilaspur, and Hamirpur, and at a few places in Kinnaur, Kullu, and Lahaul-Spiti. Chamba, Kangra, Mandi, Shimla, Sirmaur, and Solan may also see intermittent rain.
For May 29 and 30, the IMD anticipates light to moderate rainfall at several places statewide. On May 31, many regions could receive rain, with heavy spells likely in Kangra, Kullu, and Mandi districts.
“There will be no major change in maximum temperatures in the next 24 hours,” IMD officials said. “However, a gradual dip of 2–3°C is expected over the next three to four days. Minimum temperatures may also fall by 2–3°C in many areas over the next four to five days.”
Authorities have advised residents and travelers to remain cautious, particularly in areas prone to landslides or weather-related disruptions.
