Raja Warring calls for improved policing over Tejpal’s Killing

Chandigarh, October 31 — Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring has raised concerns over rising criminal incidents in the state following the daylight killing of Kabaddi player Tejpal in Jagraon, calling for urgent strengthening of law and order.

In a statement issued on Thursday, Warring condemned the attack and expressed sympathies with the victim’s family.

He said that the incident, which took place close to the SSP’s office, reflected “a worrying sense of fearlessness among criminals.”

“The fact that such attacks happen in broad daylight shows a need for tighter policing and better preventive measures,” he said.

Warring said there was growing unease among citizens over public safety and called on the government to “reassert the authority of law enforcement agencies.” He added that maintaining law and order was a collective responsibility that required coordination between the administration and the public.

He also cautioned against normalising such incidents, saying Punjab must not allow itself to slip into a pattern of unchecked violence. “The state has always been known for peace and brotherhood. That spirit must be restored,” he said.
