Chandigarh, April 14: A 21-year-old motorcyclist, Ashish Kumar of Kishangarh, died after a tempo truck swerved recklessly near Kalagram on Sunday morning, leading to a chain reaction that caused a fatal crash.
Ashish was triple-riding with Umesh and Yash when the tempo in front of them suddenly veered, causing him to lose control. All three fell, and a milk tanker approaching from the opposite side ran over the motorcycle, injuring all of them.
The trio was rushed to GMSH-16, where Ashish died during treatment. His body has been sent for post-mortem. Umesh and Yash are being treated at GMCH-32.
Police arrested the tempo driver, Chintu of Rajiv Colony, Panchkula. He has been booked under Section 106 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for causing death by negligence. Investigation is ongoing.
