NEW DELHI, OCT 11: The Supreme Court has issued comprehensive orders protecting the right to peaceful assembly while directing law enforcement agencies to refrain from unlawful detentions. Convening for a special weekend session, the bench stated that public movement, public transport operations, and communication infrastructure must continue without arbitrary interruption, affirming its role in safeguarding constitutional guarantees.

The judicial intervention followed submissions by senior counsel highlighting widespread barricading, transport disruptions, and police excesses surrounding recent public demonstrations. Addressing these grievances, the court ordered an immediate administrative review of physical barriers throughout the city to balance public order with traffic convenience and civil liberties.

During proceedings, the bench directed the removal of any Section 163 BNSS prohibitory notices surrounding the Supreme Court complex, ensuring that lawyers, journalists, and citizens retain full access to legal institutions. Government representatives assured the court that key transport corridors and metro access points closed during previous security operations had been fully reopened.

The top court permitted all related intervention applications and directed government authorities to submit a detailed response prior to the upcoming hearing on October 13. Concluding the session, the bench reiterated that peaceful advocacy remains essential to public interest while advising all parties to maintain public order.
