JALANDHAR, Sept 30: Precautionary closures were enforced across select schools in Jalandhar and Amritsar on Wednesday following the receipt of electronic threat messages threatening public venues and high-profile political events.
School authorities acted swiftly upon detecting the threat emails received around 7:07 AM, suspending classes for the day and coordinating with local police to ensure the safe exit of arriving students. The threat coincided with the scheduled arrival of Union Home Minister Amit Shah to lead the culmination of the BJP’s anti-drug campaign in Doaba.
Senior police officials maintained that specialized search teams and bomb disposal units carried out comprehensive checks at all specified locations, including educational campuses, court premises, and prominent public assembly points.
State security forces affirmed that comprehensive surveillance measures remain in effect across key transport routes and event sectors, while technical units continue efforts to identify the perpetrators behind the emails.
