Mohali, Sept 6 — Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann was admitted to a private hospital here on Friday evening after complaining of exhaustion and a drop in heart rate, officials confirmed. The 51-year-old leader remains under observation, though doctors have declared his condition stable.
Aam Aadmi Party leader Manish Sisodia visited Mann at the hospital on Saturday and later told reporters that the chief minister had been feeling unwell for the past three days. “He had an electrolyte imbalance and was initially being treated at home,” Sisodia said. “On Saturday evening, his pulse rate dropped and thereafter he was hospitalised. He is stable and there is nothing to worry about. According to doctors, he will remain in hospital for one or two more days.”
Hospital authorities also confirmed that Mann’s vital signs were being closely monitored. Sisodia, who serves as AAP’s Punjab incharge, said the chief minister appeared alert during their meeting. “We spoke about the flood situation in Punjab. Despite being unwell, he remains concerned about the challenges people are facing,” he noted.
The chief minister’s illness has already impacted official engagements. A scheduled meeting of the Punjab cabinet on Friday was postponed, and earlier on Thursday Mann was unable to accompany AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal on a visit to flood-hit areas.
Party insiders said the government has assured continuity of administrative work in Mann’s absence and expressed hope for his quick recovery.
