AMRITSAR, OCT 17 — Anti-drug campaigner Parvinder Singh Jhota will be immortalized at the Central Sikh Museum following a directive by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee.
The decision comes shortly after religious leadership at the Akal Takht designated the fallen activist as a martyr of the community.
“The courage and commitment of young people who contribute to movements against drugs cannot be overlooked,” remarked SGPC President Harjinder Singh Dhami during a meeting with Jhota’s father.
Addressing the immediate medical and financial needs of those involved, the SGPC committed Rs five lakh to each of the four survivors injured alongside Jhota during the ambush. The designated aid splits equally between covering hospital expenses and direct monetary relief for affected households.
President Dhami further inquired whether the injured survivors or Jhota’s family wished to relocate treatment to medical facilities managed directly by the SGPC. The move reflects a broader institutional effort to support grassroots anti-narcotics advocacy while guaranteeing healthcare backing for affected families.
