Haryana Partners With Sweden to Reimagining Gurugram’s Urban Landscape

by TheReportingTimes

GURUGRAM — The Haryana state government has finalized a strategic sister-city agreement between Gurugram and Stockholm, eyeing a comprehensive makeover for the state’s commercial capital.

The agreement was executed in Sweden as part of Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini’s diplomatic tour, which also secured Rs 4,000 crore in corporate investment commitments from Swedish industry partners.

Addressing the long-term vision behind the initiative, state officials emphasized Gurugram’s status as a major global investment center.

“The partnership would help make Gurugram cosmopolitan in the true sense, given its large expatriate community and status as an investment hub,” remarked Urban Local Bodies Minister Vipul Goel.

Under the agreed terms, municipal authorities from both cities will collaborate on smart-city technologies, sustainable infrastructure, urban mobility, and joint research ventures. By leveraging Stockholm’s expertise in sustainable development, Haryana aims to integrate European-style urban planning solutions into Gurugram’s expanding industrial and residential sectors.
