Free Diagnostic Testing and Hospitalization Schemes Target Monsoon Illnesses

by TheReportingTimes

Chandigarh, August 20: Punjab health officials have expanded surveillance networks and cashless treatment programs to mitigate the impact of seasonal vector-borne diseases. Under the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojana scheme, state hospitals have delivered 357 treatments for dengue, malaria, and chikungunya, helping patients manage serious complications without out-of-pocket costs.

Medical professionals advised residents to monitor symptoms closely and seek clinical evaluation when experiencing persistent fevers.

“Mosquito-borne diseases can cause havoc when symptoms are ignored or treatment is delayed,” Medical Specialist Dr Shifali Choudhary declared. “Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojana is helping people across Punjab seek timely medical care without the immediate burden of arranging treatment expenses.”

Health metrics indicate that the highest volume of hospitalizations occurred within the 31-to-45 age bracket, with women comprising the majority of beneficiaries. Specialized treatment covered complex conditions including dengue hemorrhagic fever, severe sepsis, and blood transfusions.

To prevent further transmission, health workers are conducting targeted door-to-door inspections to eliminate standing water in residential and commercial areas. Free rapid diagnostic tests continue to be offered at public facilities across the state to facilitate early detection.
