by TheReportingTimes

Chandigarh, November 11 — In a major success under the Haryana Police’s ongoing “Operation Trackdown,” the Special Task Force (STF) has arrested two wanted members of the Rohit Godara gang who had been evading capture for 11 months.

The accused, identified as Naresh Kumar and Sanjay alias Sanjeev — both from Saidpur village in Narnaul — were wanted for a daylight attack inside the Narnaul court complex on December 5, 2024. Police said the duo had opened fire on a rival, Amit from Surani village in Mahendragarh, before fleeing the scene.

“After the incident, both accused kept shifting locations to avoid arrest,” the police spokesperson said, adding that the STF team tracked them down after months of surveillance.

Sanjay faces 10 cases, including those of attempt to murder and illegal possession of arms, while Naresh is named in four FIRs. “Their arrest marks another step in the crackdown on organised crime in Haryana,” the spokesperson said.

Launched on November 5, Operation Trackdown has already resulted in 1,382 arrests across the state — including 209 identified criminals and over 1,100 other accused. Police data show that 48 criminals and 179 others were arrested on November 10 alone.

The 16-day operation, continuing till November 20, focuses on capturing absconders involved in recent shooting incidents. “Each district police unit has been asked to prepare a list of top offenders and act swiftly,” officials noted.

Director General of Police O.P. Singh said that those wanted in gun-related crimes must be arrested without delay. “The campaign reflects our zero-tolerance approach towards gang activity and violence,” he said
