Hoshiarpur, May 6: An eight-year-old girl lost her life Wednesday morning after being mauled by stray dogs in Hoshiarpur’s Kharal Khurd village. The victim, identified by authorities as Saloni, was attacked shortly after leaving her home around 8:30 a.m.

Police reports indicate the girl was on her way to school when she was intercepted by the pack. The child’s family, noticing her prolonged absence, initiated a search of the immediate area. They eventually located her on the side of the road with severe injuries.

“She was rushed to the nearby Community Health Centre in Tanda,” a local official asserted. Despite the efforts of the family to seek emergency care, medical professionals at the center noted that the girl had already passed away. Saloni’s father, Pyare Lal, is a native of Uttar Pradesh who resides in the Punjab village where the tragedy took place.

The local police department has initiated a formal inquiry into the incident after reaching the site and taking the body into their custody. Officers declared that the investigation remains active as the community deals with the aftermath of the event. Local administration has been briefed on the situation regarding stray animal presence in the sector.
