Nangal, September 2: Administrative authorities in Nangal have opened an inquiry into a property ownership dispute after ancestral land in Majri village was transferred and sold based on contested revenue entries. Prakash Chand of Majowal brought the issue to public attention upon discovering that official records listed an individual sharing his name as deceased. The resulting inheritance mutations enabled the transfer and ultimate sale of the agricultural parcel to third parties.
Legal counsel Navdeep Hira filed a formal challenge before the revenue department, requesting an official review of the mutation registered on December 4, 2025. The challenge maintains that lapses occurred during the initial identity verification process, which allowed third parties to claim inheritance rights. The petitioners asserted that full corrective action is required to protect valid property claims and ensure accurate maintenance of municipal registers.
Addressing the matter, SDM Nangal Sachin Pathak declared that formal show-cause notices have been dispatched to former tehsildar Jasbir Singh, former patwari Sham Avtar, and the area nambardar. Pathak asserted that a departmental probe has been instituted to carefully examine how the death certificate details were cross-referenced with the land titles. Administrative leadership affirmed that accountability standards will be upheld throughout the evaluation.
The administration continues to address broader record-keeping management within the Nangal subdivision. Official teams have successfully retrieved land records for ten out of fourteen villages involved in an ongoing documentation recovery effort. Local officials asserted that systematic checks are being reinforced across all branch offices to prevent administrative errors and safeguard citizen land rights.
