New Delhi, March 24 — Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, addressing the three-day brainstorming event ‘Samriddh Himachal 2045’ virtually from New Delhi, said the initiative aims to chart a 20-year roadmap for Himachal Pradesh’s sustainable economic development.
“The government has been working with a clear vision to make Himachal a green energy, self-reliant, and prosperous state,” Sukhu said. He added that achieving these long-term goals requires a balanced approach to sustainable development and economic growth, with the event helping formulate innovative strategies.
Sukhu mentioned that the 2025-26 Budget prioritizes strengthening the rural economy, expanding the energy sector, promoting tourism, and enhancing infrastructure in education and healthcare. “The state government intends to tap hydropower potential and has also taken up the issue of securing higher royalty in power projects,” he said.
He also raised Himachal’s leadership in natural farming, stating that efforts were underway to promote it alongside the dairy sector. “Various initiatives have been taken to strengthen these sectors. Vyavastha Parivartan means heading towards making a self-sustained and self-reliant Himachal,” he added.
Development thinker and entrepreneur Sam Pitroda, joining virtually from the US, shared his insights on holistic development. He praised the state government’s initiative and expressed willingness to collaborate. “I am keen to share my knowledge with the government for Himachal Pradesh’s development,” he said.
The event, hosted at Dr. Manmohan Singh Himachal Pradesh Institute of Public Administration (HIPA), focuses on expert-led seminars and discussions.
