New Delhi, August 20: Three people were killed on Wednesday when a building collapsed near Sadbhavna Park in central Delhi’s Daryaganj, officials said.

Police received information about the incident at 12:14 p.m., prompting the dispatch of four fire tenders to the site, a Delhi Fire Services (DFS) official said. The building, consisting of a ground floor and two upper floors, caved in, trapping occupants inside.

Delhi Police Central District Officer Nidhin Valsan identified the deceased as Zubair, Gulsagar, and Taufiq, all of whom were workers at the site. They were rushed to L.N. Kaushal Prasad (LNKP) Hospital but could not be saved, he added.

Civic authorities, including the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), have been informed, and rescue operations are ongoing. “Legal action will be taken after verification of facts,” the DCP said.

Emergency personnel continue to search the site to ensure no one else is trapped, while safety inspections of nearby structures are reportedly being carried out.
