Chandigarh, Oct 5: A major road mishap on the Banga-Phagwara National Highway resulted in three fatalities and 24 injuries after a private tourist bus overturned near Majari village during the early hours of Monday.
The transport bus was carrying passengers and a group of Lovely Professional University students back from Manali toward Amritsar when the incident took place. Response teams reported that the vehicle lost stability while navigating the slope of the Banga flyover, leading to the rollover. Police personnel affirmed that bus conductor Khem Singh and student Jashina Joseph were among those who tragically lost their lives, while efforts to confirm the identity of the third deceased individual are proceeding.
Medical teams at Civil Hospital Banga and Guru Nanak Mission Hospital quickly admitted the injured passengers following swift local emergency efforts. Representatives asserted that most victims are recovering from minor injuries, though three critically injured passengers were moved to advanced medical centers for ongoing care. Law enforcement authorities maintained that official procedures and on-site investigations are actively determining the factors that led to the incident.
